Ambulatory
Services
SJH offers a
broad range of ambulatory care services designed and delivered to
meet the multi-cultural needs of patients in this community.
SJH operates various ambulatory care clinics, including
primary, specialty and fast track that provided almost 14,000
patient visits in Fiscal Year 1999.
These included primary adult health care and pediatrics, fast
track for non-emergent treatment and nineteen (19) specialty
clinics, including ENT, podiatry, surgery and orthopedics.
Emergency
Service
SJH'sl Emergency Department is classified as a
Level II Emergency Center. The
level of care available ranges from the continuation or initiation
of advanced life support measures to the assessment and treatment of
minor illnesses or injuries or acute exacerbations of a chronic
medical condition. Emergency
services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The facility is staffed by physicians, registered nurses, a
physicians assistant, a nurse practitioner and nursing
assistants. SJHs
emergency department is instrumental in providing medical/surgical
admissions. In Fiscal
Year 1999, the emergency department had 14,000 visits of which 3,298
were admitted as medical/surgical patients.
This represents ninety-one percent (91%) of the total
medical/surgical admissions for Fiscal Year 1999.
The Care
Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital
The Care Clinic at SJH is a comprehensive, wholly
dedicated AIDS care program which provides HIV medical care, case
management services, meals, legal assistance, clinical trials and
drug rehabilitation services.
